The a or anchor tag is an elegantly simple and powerful tool . The <a> tag defines a hyperlink, which is used to link from one page to another and used to help visitors get from one page to another is called hyperlink. The most important attribute of the <a> element is the href attribute, which indicates the link's destination. You can use the target attribute to specify whether to open the web page in a new browser window or not. You can also use this tag to link an image. By default, links will appear as follows in all browsers:- An unvisited link is underlined and blue
- A visited link is underlined and purple
- An active link is underlined and red
