abbr
Definition and Usage
The <abbr> tag defines an abbreviation or an acronym, like "Mr.", "Dec.", "ASAP", "ATM". Marking up abbreviations can give useful information to browsers, translation systems and search-engines. The HTML<abbr>
element represents an abbreviation and optionally provides a full description for it. If present, the title attribute must contain this full description and nothing else.
This tag is often used in conjunction with the global title attribute in order to provide an expansion of the abbreviation. When this attribute is specified, it should only contain an expansion of the abbreviation and nothing else. The <abbr> element is used along with a title attribute to associate a full-text explanation with an abbreviation or acronym. Website visitors do not see the text in the title attribute, but browsers, search engines, and assistive technologies do use this information.
